Mary Drake Korsmeyer

The legal practice of Mary Drake Korsmeyer focuses on health care law, business, medical practice defense, municipal law, and other general civil litigation.

Receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1959 from Cornell University, Mrs. Korsmeyer was a four-year recipient of the Cornell National Scholarship, and was on Dean's List as a Securities Analyst. Subsequently, she resumed her educational pursuits, and was awarded a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1978. Prior to joining Peacock Keller in 1981, Mary Gail served as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Richard DiSalle of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.

In 1983, Mrs. Korsmeyer became the first woman attorney appointed to be Standing Master in Divorce and a Child Custody Hearing Officer in Washington County. She has represented a number of school districts in Western Pennsylvania. As her practice later focused on health care issues and litigation, Mrs. Korsmeyer became a member of the American Society of Law and Medicine, the Society of Health Care Attorneys of the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania, and President of the Society of Hospital Attorneys of Western Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the International Association of Defense Counsel and was the President of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Southwestern Pennsylvania in 2001. Mary Gail is the first woman attorney to serve as President of the Washington County Bar Association, and is also a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations.

Mary Gail is a mediator for the Washington County Civil Litigation Mediation Program, and she served for three years as the Managing Partner of Peacock Keller. She has been admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania and Federal Courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States.

A charter member of the Zonta Club of the Washington County area, and a member of the Women's Business Network, Mrs. Korsmeyer's professional and personal involvements resulted in her recognition, in a 1988 photographic exhibit at Washington & Jefferson College, as one of the outstanding women of Washington County. Mary Gail is also listed in Who's Who in American Women.

The mother of three children, Mrs. Korsmeyer and her husband, J.D. Korsmeyer, reside in McMurray, Pennsylvania.
