Mary K. Pruss
A 1980 graduate of West Virginia University School of Law, Mary Kardos Pruss became associated with the firm in 1987, with the opening of our Waynesburg, Greene County, office. Since that time, her practice has emphasized general civil litigation, domestic relations, real estate and estate matters.
Prior to joining Peacock Keller, Mrs. Pruss served for seven years as the First Assistant District Attorney in Greene County. During her tenure there, she established the Greene County Victim/Witness Policy Board, which she chaired for 13 years. She was also appointed Solicitor to the Greene County Domestic Relations Office, a position she served in for eight years.
In addition to her legal training and education, Mary was graduated Magna Cum Laude from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. She then served her internship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and remains a Registered Medical Technologist and a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. While at Penn State University, Mary was elected to Phi Kappa Phi, a national honorary society, the Cwens Honorary Hat Society, and Alpha Lambda Delta, a freshman honorary society.
A past president of the Waynesburg Chamber of Commerce, Mary continues to serve several Chamber committees. She also served two terms as the President of the Waynesburg Lions Club and chair on the Lions Club committee to build a home jointly with Habitat for Humanity. She has also served on the Board of Directors of CARE and the Bowlby Library. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors of Waynesburg Prosperous & Beautiful, Inc., a non-profit revitalization organization.
Mary is an active member of the American, Pennsylvania, Greene County and Washington County Bar Associations. She has served as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary of the Greene County Bar Association. She is also currently serving on the dispute resolution committee of the Greene County Bar Association, and is a member of the Washington County Bar Association's, American Bar Association's and Pennsylvania Bar Association's Family Law Sections.
Mary and her husband, Stanley W. Pruss, who retired as Northeast Regional Research Manager for Novartis Corporation, continue to maintain the Washington County Christmas Tree Farm that they established in 1974. They have four children and five grandchildren.
