Barbara A. Rizzo
Barbara A. Rizzo became associated with Peacock Keller, a Washington, Pennsylvania-based law firm, in July of 1985 at the conclusion of her clerkship with the Honorable James E. Rowley, Superior Court of Pennsylvania. She became a Partner at the firm in 1992. Ms. Rizzo's practice has emphasized school law, employment law and business law. A member of the American, Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and Washington County Bar Associations, Ms. Rizzo is also a past President (1996) of the Pennsylvania School Solicitors Association.
Barbara performed both her undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1980, and with a Juris Doctorate from its School of Law in 1983. Ms. Rizzo was elected to Phi Eta Sigma freshman honorary society, and as a law student, was appointed to a teaching assistant position. During that time, she also worked as a legal intern at the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office, in the Appellate Division.
As a school solicitor, in 1987, Ms. Rizzo co-authored "A Review of the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act" assisting her then Partner Reed B. Day. Barbara often speaks to local governmental officials, school boards, and public school teachers and is a frequent lecturer for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. She also has lectured to high school students on a number of legal issues.
Peacock Keller serves as solicitor to several school districts and as special counsel to several others. The firm has also been named as an approved defense firm for school districts by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association Insurance Trust.
Barbara resides in Greentree Borough, Allegheny County.
