Good Tax News?The Pa. Department of Revenue has announced some new tax arrangements for 2003. Liquid fuels and fuel taxes will be reduced. Business taxes are now payable by credit card."Fast File" allows you to file personal income tax returns using one of three options, which will save time, money, and paper. "pa.direct.file" uses the Internet, "Telefile" uses a telephone system and "E-file" provides electronic filing. Each system permits quick processing and promotes quick refunds. The TAX-BACK/Tax Forgivemenss Program in 2003 will provide eligible taxpayers having modest income with a quick refund of excess witholding taxes. Details are available in the PA-40 Booklet, at www.state.pa.us (keyword "tax back"), or by telephone, 1-800PATAXES. Taxpayers will not find the familiar Personal Identification Number (PIN). It will be replaced by a 5-digit "Account Number" which you must use for any of the Fast File options. |
