Peacock Keller provides comprehensive legal advice to our energy clients, which include some of the largest producers of fossil fuels in the nation. Leveraging our deep experience in coal, oil, gas, shale gas and other minerals, our Energy Group counsels clients on a wide variety of energy-related matters and partners with them to identify issues and provide cost-effective solutions.

Richard J. Amrhein – Rick has been practicing estate and trust law for over 30 years. More recently, he has focused on estate planning for our clients who have oil and gas holdings, including the use of family trusts, family limited partnerships and limited liability companies. His practice includes business organizations as well as real estate. He staffs our Bridgeville office for the convenience of our Southern Allegheny and Northern Washington County clientele.

Andrew S. Chumney – Andy has been representing coal, oil and natural gas producers along with other energy-related businesses for over 15 years. His practice focuses on locally representing some of the country's largest energy producers in a broad array of energy and real estate related matters, including mineral title issues, land and mineral acquisitions and leasing, lease negotiations, asset sales and transactions, and permitting and regulatory issues associated with coal, oil, gas, and coalbed methane. In 2017, Andy was recognized by the Pittsburgh Business Times as a “Who’s Who in Energy” in the Pittsburgh region.

Wesley A. Cramer – For nearly forty years, Wes has represented local and national energy producers in issues pertaining to longwall mining, coal mine subsidence, coal bed methane gas recovery, underground gas storage and shale gas. He has also represented corporate and individual clients in numerous matters relating to railroad properties, easements, industrial and commercial property, residential and commercial financing, zoning, water, subdivision and land development matters, pipelines, coal processing plants, real estate tax assessment appeals, transfer taxes and purely public charity tax exemptions.Wes has also served as an expert witness in a variety of cases for the coal mining industry and as an arbitrator in cases involving oil and gas title disputes.

Stephen P. Curry – Steve joined Peacock Keller in 2002 and has been a member of the firm’s Energy Group since. He, along with other members of the firm, have coordinated the production of coal title abstracts and rendered legal opinions on coal title and operating rights involving thousands of acres of coal in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Steve has also coordinated oil and gas production projects of a similar nature. Additionally, he has represented landowners in oil and gas leases, oil and gas mineral rights sales, pipeline rights-of-way and meter station agreement negotiations, giving him a unique perspective of both sides of the energy industry.

Jonathan G. Higie – For over twenty five years, Jonathan’s practice of law has been concentrated in real property, commercial and residential lending, mineral law, oil and gas and selected municipal and zoning law matters. In addition, Jonathan has facilitated the growth of business entities from conception to succession planning.

Aaron W. Smith – Aaron joined Peacock Keller as an Associate in October of 2016. Prior to joining Peacock Keller, Aaron was employed as the Appalachian Regional Manager for a national land services company providing land-related services to energy companies developing the Marcellus and Utica shale formations. As a member of the firm’s Energy Group, Aaron handles transactional matters related to coal, oil and gas operations, review of title abstracts, mineral title certification, in addition to maintaining a practice assisting clients with corporate and residential real estate matters.
